At last, the sun shone on a Thursday evening; and finally we got to do the much-postponed ride to Dalkeith.

Nine riders set off on a fine sunny evening down the Goldenacre path and then followed The Ferry Road path etc to Leith, then through Leith Links to Portobello and along the prom and roads to Musselburgh.

Following the Esk path to Whitecraig, we picked up the Path 196 that follows Slaters Road to Dalkeith, pausing at a familiar pub to freshen up. Taking the Eskbank road and Melville road (closed to cars) we crossed the bridge over the bypass at Gilmerton Road. to Drum Street.

From there it was all downhill (well almost) to town, and four of us reached the Doctors pub around 21:30 with the sun still shining, the rest having set off for home along the downhill stretch.

Thanks to all who helped us finally do Dalkeith!
