A small but select group of cyclists turned up for tonight's outing to Musselburgh and back. More's the pity as it was a really lovely evening, even if it was a bit on the chilly side. Messrs Stalker and Orr joined me for what turned out to be a very enjoyable evening's cycling, even if  the cheerful and loquatious Mr Stalker was forced to double back after only six miles on account of his continuing recuperation.

Following the bike path East from our starting point in King George V Park we made our way via Leith Links to Seafield, then to Portobello and hence to Musselburgh where we headed for the River Esk path and the return leg of our journey. The River Esk path took us to the bridge crossing from where the path continues to Whitecraig and from where we rode up to Musselburgh Station and on to Newcraighall. Thereafter we continued to Brunstane Station where we crossed the main Milton Road and cycled down Brunstane Road till we found ourselves back on the Promenade, and rode back to our starting point more or less along the route we'd travelled out on.

It was exactly 9 O'Clock when we made it back to the park, with still a bit of light to see us safely home. All in all an pleasant evening's cycling topped off (for me) by a deliciously cool pint of East Coast IPA at the Cumberland Bar in Cumberland Street. Cheers!
