On a cool haary evening, on the last ride of the year, Jim took
six evening riders on the roads to Craigleith via Stockbridge, were we
met with an old friend.
Light being a little short, we took the Blachall path to Crammond,
pausing to look at Crammond tower, a defensive structure built by the
Bishops of Dunkeld. We had a nice view of Crammond island, and behind
it, Fife shrouded in haar.
From there, an easy spin along the prom took us to the junction with
the Waterfront Estate, then up the Granton Access path to the Red
Bridge, where two left to return to Leith. The remaider followed to
Roseburn path & Russel Road, where the hard core pressed on to
behind Lidl and up the bumpy steps to the very pleasant Fountain pub,
in Fountainbridge and near the canal.
A couple of nice drinks completed this ride, and with it the 2016
evening ride season. We could see that it was time to finish, because
it looked quite dark at 20:30. We look forward to reconvening in 2017.
